I’ve been applying for pharmaceutical sales positions but I don’t have any pharmaceutical sales experience and I’m sure that it’s hindering my ability to get interviews. If I can’t get that, my second choice is Human Resources but since my undergradute degree is not in HR or Business, I ‘m having the same road block. Any suggestions?

Hi Kris. Like anything you need to crawl, walk, jog and then run. When I talk to friends who are struggling to get the job of their dream I ask them a few questions and tend to get similar responses.
1> What relevant experience do you have, to make you stick out?
2> What did you do in your CV and/or interview that would make you stick out? Have you considered asking to do a stage/internship to prove yourself? Do you have any contacts at all that could help guide you in the field? Give you practical tips?
3> Are you trying to climb mount everest, without having done the training for it? In other words, are you targeting the largest pharmaceutical companies, without having earned your stripes yet? If you’re targeting Tier 1 and getting shot down, change your approach. Target Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 companies.
4> Do you have a contact internally at one of these companies that could sponsor you?
These are a few suggestions. Stick with it, as nothing good truly came out half effort. If this is what you absolutely want, then if your approach is not working. Change it.
Good Luck.
Ken
Hi kris I agree with Ken it’s all about research why pharmaceutical. I can’t even spell that. I am doing affiliate marketing and like and like it a lot. You can check it out .But it is still a lot to get done on the good side its not to expensive to get started.
I’ve been a pharma recruiter for years. I can tell you what you need to do based on your particular background, but I will need some info from you like when you graduated, your major, any B2B sales experience, where you live (city & state), etc. Feel free to email your resume to me at. If you are feeling a little concerned about supplying your contact info, you can remove it from your resume before you send.
